Ye Olde Rubber Band Trick

You are probably looking twice at the picture above. This is the inside of my purse.  You see some gum and a tube of lipstick within a zippered pocket.  And the only blue in the photo is a rubber band wound tightly around the gathered pocket fabric, closing off the hole in the corner.  While this may be less than sightly, it certainly is functional, until I either sew the hole shut or buy a new purse.  

I have my father to thank for this easy repair tip.  I remember him showing me the rubber band at the tip of the pocket in his trousers.  When the rip occurred as he was teaching school, he quickly solved the problem like this.  Thank you, Daddy.  Good one!

Year of Living Graciously

Each month I suggest an easy fun or interesting thing to do to make life fun. Scroll down this blog and look on the right for a list of other ideas. The list is beside the picture of some "lady with a blue face."

Here is July's tip - Spend the afternoon reviving a beat up piece of furniture or other object with several different colors of paint and put it outside in your garden. Example: My faded flamingos are no longer pink.  Now they have black, gold, blue  green and purple spots!

Cupboard Coupons

Do you ever go to the trouble of clipping coupons then never use them because they get stacked in a pile and forgotten? Maybe you don't want to bother sorting them all before you go to the store. Here's an easy fix and you're sure to find the right coupon when you need it. Just tape the coupon to the inside of the cupboard door where you keep each particular item. Need peanut butter? Tape it to the inside of the pantry.  Need toothpaste? Tape it to the inside of the linen closet. Detergent? Tape it inside the laundry room cupboard. No one will see your coupons unless they are family or you have nosey visitors. Either way, they'll think you're terribly organized or obsessive/compulsive and feel sorry for you.  It's a win-win deal!
