Everybody loves their hometown. After all, it's THEIR hometown. Born there or living there by choice, we all take pride in the accomplishments, beauty and notoriety of our place. I am no exception. For me, Amelia Island, Florida has it all. I often say, "History loves here." Since I love history, I'm in the right place. A real live working seaport with a National Historic District full of Victorian homes and storefronts, this city is my definition of Small Town, USA.

Through the generosity of many, we can now brag about all the American flags hanging from street lights and telephone poles in our downtown and clear out to our Main Beach at the Atlantic Ocean. The flags are our cherry on the top of our rich dessert of Southern hospitality smothering our Amelia Island. Next time you're able, come on down and enjoy this paradise, along with us. It's too beautiful not to share!

… flailing her arms, she went on and on about what might have befallen him. "Why, it could have been you, burned beyond recognition instead of one of your boys. Your beautiful face. My God! What if something hurt your face?"
He grabbed her and shook her. His words were muted as he growled, "Shut up. Shut up. Not now. Leave me be. Please, I'm begging you. Just leave me be."
He left his fiancée standing in the center of town, quite puzzled. Actually, she didn't mind as much as she pretended. She could hear a buzz of whispering now and just naturally knew empathy was directed her way. He had been so mean to her.
The man disappeared into the night. No one followed him. No one dared.

Ignoring her, Grey brushed past, instantly recognizing he'd interrupted something. His confirmation was her ruddy face and puffy lips. It was a blessed good thing he'd come along when he had. "Patience? I've been freezing my ass off outside, waiting for your highness like some lap dog. When you say five o'clock, I damn well expect you to be downstairs waiting for me at five o'clock. I sure don’t have to ask what you’ve been up to. And where is this man who tempts you so much, you're willing to debase yourself at his mere beckoning?"
Carolena looked to the velvet pillows now crushed on the floor. Wadded in the corner was the blue dress. There was little sense denying it. Then again, who was he to tell her what was proper? He'd bedded hundreds of women, she was sure, so he had no room to talk.
Remaining calm, lest her feeling of guilt show, she told him, "Signor Alontti is attending to business. He sends his regards."

I wanted to thank you for how "gracious" you were in meeting us and sharing a great evening of fun. ...We are meeting Friday with the rest of the girls who were not able to make it on the trip. They will be so jealous! Year of Living Graciously

December - Don't deny yourself holiday treats. Just don't eat the entire tray.

November - Hold hands with a friend, sibling, child or mate - in public.

October - Tell a clean joke!

September - Relax when you can and avoid looking at a clock as much as possible.

August - Teach, show or learn some sort of hand sewing like knitting, crocheting, crewel, embroidery, cross-stitch, etc. before the art of hand creation is gone!

July - Spend the afternoon reviving a beat up piece of furniture or other object with several different colors of paint and put it outside in your garden.

June - Sing along with old-timey songs.

May - Try a brighter lipstick or a new aftershave.

April -Put fresh greenery and/or flowers on the table once a week. Free from your yard or a friend's is best if possible.

March- Write a love letter to your child, sibling, parent or special friend.

February - Wear a color you never do.

January - Watch a silent movie.
