I got this idea from my dear friend, Bonnie. Her father loved it and she had it as a child. It sounded fun so I tried it. Good and different, I thought it might be something Clover, the handyman and Dunnigan family friend, would serve in my upcoming novel, Mark of a Man*, set in 1898 on Amelia Island in Florida. To that end, I wrote a scene where Clover makes it as a distraction for the children while the adults await serious news...
You'll need:
Freshly popped popcorn either air popped or popped with no oil in a paper bag in the microwave
Cold milk
Sugar or brown sugar
Fill your bowl halfway with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bonnie suggests, "Add your sugar to your milk before you pour in the popcorn, for a more uniform sweetness." Add popcorn to the milk and eat it rather quickly or the milk will melt the popcorn.
Popcorn atop white milk with white sugar - Yes, there really is milk in the bowl. |
Thank you, Bonnie!
