And the Editor Says

My editor for Amelia Island's Mark of a Man, the third novel in my Goodbye Lie series, offered some interesting and flattering thoughts she has allowed me to share with you.

Here are a few of her favorite lines from the book.  I have removed character names to keep readers guessing who said what.:
  • He was fun loving, free loving and frequent loving.
  • ... willing, wanting and welcoming trouble.
  • His words fell to the floor with a silent thud.
  • Her emotions flashed between gray and a dark, deepening black... An all-consuming love for the child, loathing for the foe who'd violated her family, ... so much internal turmoil, she ...
  • I adore you, Nugget, but if you don't quit pulling the weights on our grandfather clock and messing it up, I'll throttle you!
  • What will become of me and what will I become?
  • I can't know that word. ( Editor adds: All my kids said it that way, too. I can still hear baby voices saying it when I read that sentence.)

Editors says:
  • "Awwww. Martha Bear has made it to another generation of Dunnigans."
  • "I really love the way you worked in the shamrocks and what they represent into the story. Very nice."
  • "What a foolish, foolish girl."
  • "HaHaHa!! I DO LOVE PEEPER!! I just adore her.  Everyone should have a Peeper in their life."
  • "Oh no!  Miss Ella left Peeper and Aunt Noreen on their own?  They will destroy each other!"
  • "My gosh ...You have my heart palpitating.  You certainly have a way with painting a tense scene!"

Amelia Island's Mark of a Man is available in paperback and e-book form at book sources everywhere. http://www.amazon.com/Amelia-Islands-MARK-OF-MAN-ebook/dp/B00R1N4FVY/ref=dp_kinw_strp_exp_5_1

Beach Warning

When you are at the beach, it is always a good idea to know what the different color warning flags mean. The International Lifesaving Federation has determined these colors define the surf conditions and hazards in the water.

sign posted on lifeguard chair explains the meaning of each of the different colored flags

Rip currents are a serious danger to swimmers but can be survived by swimming parallel to shore. Read the sign above for details.

Lightning Alert
When there is lightning within two miles of our Main Beach area, a fifteen second alarm sounds and a strobe flashes, warning that a storm is headed our way and will arrive anytime from eight to sixteen minutes. Everyone is to clear the ocean and the beach.  After the bad weather passes through, you will hear three five-second  blasts of the horn indicating it is safe to return to the beach.

Remember it's safety first when it comes to the all-powerful
Mr. Ocean, as we like to call the great Atlantic.

Moonglow over Amelia Island

I was driving east at 5 pm and saw the HUGE moon!
I walked to the edge of the ocean and took this picture.
 I used no blue filter.

Before and After

Our two year old rescue dog, Abby, has found her world, on the beach and the boardwalk.  Her reputation as a biter is somewhat exaggerated.  She's more of a barker and growler ...

However, being so cute, Abby prefers to go incognito, lest she is tempted to sharpen her choppers on  unsuspecting animal lovers who insist on petting her.

We Were Lucky

Last Sunday, we watched the news for info about Tropical Storm Isaac.  We didn't know which side of Florida the winds would carry it.  We are blessed yet again.  Northeast Florida is spared.  Now  Issac has turned hurricane and we worry for our seashore compatriots in Louisiana and parts west on the Gulf Coast. We wait to hear they are all safe.  As with everything, prayers is the best comfort.

As we watched and waited for Isaac-

Red Flag warning flies over our Main Beach - "No Swimming"

The birds face into the wind as they wait, too.

Our portion of the Atlantic Ocean stirred.

God bless the Gulf Coast.
